They are not
common in images from this time period, as many as we’ve seen.
She has a
cool look to her, as if she’s holding her own.

We’ve ‘married’ this to a crisp brown thermoplastic daguerreotype
(and ambrotype) case.
The case it came in was dilapidated and missing a rail
as well as a cover.
This case is entirely appropriate.
The case has no
nicks, no stress cracks, very good velvet (needs to be glued down) and tight
hinges.
