BLACK CIVIL WAR SOLDIER IN TWO POSES

Soldiers from the ‘Colored Troops’ of the Civil War are decidedly uncommon.
However, it’s even more unusual to find two of the same soldier.
Notice that his pistol is tucked into his belt so that you can see the barrel.
Also note the "E" on his kepi (laterally reversed because the photographer didn’t have a correcting prism).
I purchased these 25 years apart.

HOUSING
Each came in a dilapidated case.
I’ve married’ them to a thermoplastic case in very good condition.

APPEARANCE.
They look much better than the scans indicate.
The armed is sharp and has excellent contrast.
Excellent content.
The seated pose is richer in tone than the scans indicate.
Buttons are especially bright.

CONDITION
Mat abrasions on both images.
The seated pose has some residue but it’s much better than the scan indicates.
